Parties in My Future

When I took a moment to write down all the upcoming family parties taking place in the next 2 months I felt a little overwhelmed. I reminded myself to breathe and told myself to focus on one at a time. So I am going to start with my daughters birthday.  My baby will be 28 on Easter Sunday.  So I will incorporate her birthday party into our family Easter Egg Hunt.  Can't talk about what I am doing for her here for fear she will see it! Thank goodness the oldest two grandchildren filled all the easter eggs with goodies yesterday afternoon, and they had a blast doing it(they did eat a few pieces of candy during their hour long project). They filled 100 eggs with candy, goodies and yep money!  This was the best cure I could find for the ever dreaded "Grandma I'm bored"! The Easter baskets are done, now I gotta do something about my Easter Attire! Do I make it or buy it?

Wrap up in a handmade Quilt

Blankets wrap you in warmth, quilts wrap you in Love!
I found an old tattered quilt top a year or so ago
It lay upon a shelf in a local antique store.
I picked it up and held it
And wondered from whose home it came
It spoke to me of hands which stitched those tiny stitches
I walked away still thinking
Why was it never finished?
I couldn't get it out of my mind, so back to that shelf I went
This time the quilt top spoke to me and said I need your love and attention
So home it went with me....
That was a year ago.
I began putting the binding on the quilt today and when finished it will be placed upon our bed.
To wrap us in the love in which it was intended.

Check back later for the picture of my old quilt top turned into my treasure!

How to Wrap a Tootsie Roll Can

INSTRUCTIONS FOR MAKING A TOOTSIE BANK.
These are cute and fun to give. Make yours today.

Supplies Needed:
Tootsie Roll Candy Can, filled with Tootsie Rolls
Miniature Hershey's Candy bars
Wrappers of your choice, theme, & colors
Hot Glue Gun
Small Styrofoam ball(cut in half)
Wooden toothpicks
Wooden Skewers(the BBQ type)
Curling Ribbon(as many different colors as you like)they need to be about 6" long
Double Side Tape for wrapping mini bars

NOW LET'S GET STARTED
Hot glue the styrofoam ball to the top of the Tootsie Bank. Make sure you don't hot glue the lid to the bank, because then it will be difficult to open.
Straight Pins

Wrap your miniature candy bars

Take the wooden toothpicks & skewers and insert one into the end of each mini bar.

Then arrange your mini bars into the styrofoam.

Take 3 or 4 strands of curling ribbon about 6" long and knot them together in the middle. You will need lots to fill in the spaces.

Then tightly curl them

Attach the curls with straigt pins or a little hot glue.

Your done!

We don't just wrap candy!

No siree! There are many things to wrap, Gallon cans, bubble, boxes, crayons..we have many projects to share.

We will post a new project each month, usually on or around the 1st of each month.

You never know what we will wrap next.

What works best when wrapping candy

When wrapping candy bars I recommend using double side tape. It seems to work best. I have found that when you use a glue stick on glossy paper printed from an inkjet printer it tends to smear the graphics.

You can use glossy paper for wrappers which you can find at any store such as Office Depot or Staples.

You need nice sharp scissors to cut your wrappers.

Since Hershey's has changed the look of their packaging you will need scotch tape to tape the ends back and then apply foil before wrapping with you personalized candy wrapper to obtain the original Hershey's look.

As soon as I finish the tutorial, I will post here for you to see how easy you too can make your own party favors.

It's raining here today so it's time for my creative juices to start flowing and get back to my other passion, sewing.

See ya tomorrow
Have a great day.

Today is the day that the Lord hath made.
